American Journalism and Propaganda

THE PROJECT
In this project for my Typography III class at UMass Lowell we were tasked with creating a series of deliverables based on a loose prompt. The initial prompt that we were given was the word "Perception." From there we had to relate this first word with other words and ideas. This process lead me to various topic ideas, but ultimately I decided on doing my project on politics. More specifically the state of American journalism and propaganda.

THE DELIVERABLES
There were four main components to this project that I created. The first, and most involved, was a book. The book outlines a history of bias in the media dating back to the time of Benjamin Franklin and then shows how bias has shifted throughout the years. The book also focuses on the modern state of the media in 2020. I also created a poster that would be packaged with the book and can be seen in an environment. The next aspect of the project was creating a 10 second motion graphic in After Effects. For this I used an audio recording of CNN President Jeff Zucker to showcase the bias that can be seen in the so called "mainstream media." Finally I designed and coded a website as a promotional landing page for the book.
